Frustrated trying to book independent travel?

Sometimes trying to book independent travel can be frustrating. Although many journeys can be booked for dates until late March, some still cannot.

At the moment, for example, many of the overnight Corail Lunea sleeper trains to French destinations aren't yet bookable.  What this means is that skiers end up spending time online, on rail company websites such as Rail Europe, but get no results for certain dates of travel.

Not ready to book yet
Rail Europe say they are still waiting for news from SNCF (the national French rail company) as to when these trains will finally be ready to book. But with the ski season just weeks away, that's leaving it pretty late. You can book the Eurostar portion of your journey, but not the onward part.

It seems crazy that rail companies can build a multi-billion Euro railway system and yet they make it so difficult to actually book the actual trains.

Packages to the rescue
Here at snowcarbon we’re doing all we can to help make booking easier.  We’ve created a searchable rail-inclusive package section, which lists ski packages from tour operators with rail travel included at lower rates than if you booked independently, and transfers included.  The travel booking is all sorted by the tour operator, which makes things really simple.

And we’re helping more tour operators to create these kind of rail inclusive packages, widening the choice of destinations and trains. So if your favourite tour operator isn’t offering rail inclusive packages as a travel option, ask them to get in touch with us.

And of course, we’ll keep you informed of independent travel options too.
