Changing platforms is simple. Departure boards clearly show which platform the onward train leaves from, and staff are available to help too.

Often you only have to cross to an adjacent platform. If not, lifts, escalators or moving walkways are available, so you won't need to carry your luggage up and down stairs.

You can break your journey with a meal or bite at a cafe or restaurant in your connecting train station.
This is a delightful place to pause in Zurich station called Les Arcades cafe, where we had a bite while changing train on the way to Engelberg.

If you have a few spare minutes between changing trains, you'll often find a reasonably-priced cafe where you can grab a coffee and a treat. Plenty of places serve freshly made sandwiches and filled baguettes that you can take onto the train to eat en-route.
We liked the look of these pretzels!
