Q. Do I need to book a return, or can I travel one way?
A. You can book either a return or single ticket, allowing you to mix and match times and routes.
Q. Can I combine a daytime outward journey with an overnight journey on the return, or vice versa?
A. Yes.
Q. Can I book last minute?
A. Yes, but you may find the lower fares have sold. Aim to book at least four weeks in advance. If you're booking late, you should consider a rail-inclusive package from a tour operator.
Q. Will I receive paper tickets?
A. In most cases, yes. It depends on your destination.
Q. Is there an extra charge to pay by credit card?
A. Rail Europe charges 2% per credit card bookings. Eurostar charges £3 per credit cards. Deutsche Bahn charges 2% per credit card bookings. There are no charge if you use a debit card.
Q. Is there an extra charge to book seats together?
A. No.
Q. Can I change my travel dates or times after booking?
A. The lowest fares are usually for non-exchangeable, non-refundable tickets. Other tickets have some degree of flexibility. You can find the ticket conditions (either online, or on the phone) before you book.
Q. Will I need to share a couchette? Are there any single-sex couchettes?
A. Most standard-class couchettes sleep six. On most trains female-only couchettes can be requested.
Q. Is bedding provided in couchettes?
Yes, freshly laundered sheets, pillows and quilted-blankets are provided.
Q. Do you show all the train connections to a resort?
A. No, we show the ones with the fastest connections and most convenient departure and arrival times.
Q. Can I choose to spend longer in Paris?
A. Yes. You can select the Eurostar leg of the journey separately from the onward leg. So if you want a leisurely meal or an overnight stay in Paris on the way, you can do that.
Q. How do I book trains on snowcarbon?
A. From the journey page of each ski resort listed, you can click through to a resort-specific booking page. The booking page with online booking forms and phone numbers of the relevant rail companies that can book to that resort. The cost is the same as if you went directly to the rail company's website, but we provide simple guidance notes make it easier for you to book the journey.
