You won’t get bored of ski options here, however long you stay. For this reason, Courchevel is a fantastic choice for skiers of all abilities, including good intermediates and experts. Prepare to be wowed.
Before skiing in Couchevel you’ll need to grasp some numbers: 1850, 1650, 1550 and 1300. This is a resort spread across four villages named for their respective heights in metres. They are all interconnected by a network of lifts, and with a free shuttle service than runs late at night.
From anywhere in Couchevel, you have at your disposal more than 600km of skiing in the Three Valleys, including Meribel one valley over and Val Thorens, Les Menuires and Saint Martin de Belleville, a valley beyond that.
Sweeping back from a day out skiing, down the long wide runs through the trees back into 1850, it’s hard not to feel that this is what skiing is about.
Courchevel is fun and chic. Although the resort has a rather exclusive reputation – there’s even a small airport at 1850 used by private jets – don’t be put off. There are accommodation options to suit all budgets in each village.
