Restaurants in town

La Clusaz is a delightful mountain village and you'll find no difficulty in eating well at one of the wide choice of restaurants. La Caleche (00 33 45 002 42 60) is good for a Savoyard fix. St Joseph at the Alp 'Hotel (00 33 48 961 90 02) is probably the top choice restaurant.

Le Grenier (00 33 45 032 36 06) and L’Arbe (00 33 45 002 60 54) are both popular in the heart of the village, while a little further out is in Les Confins is Le Chalet du Lac (00 33 45 002 53 26). This claims to be the oldest farm in La Clusaz, and serves local dishes in a lovely setting.

Mountain restaurants

La Clusaz is famous for excellent mountain restaurants, and plenty of them. We applaud the fact that most have retained table service.

We like La Vieille Ferme (00 33 45 002 41 49) at Merdassier (rely on the menu du jour), and the Relais de L'Aiguille (00 33 68 910 82 63) at Crêt du Loup has good food and a sunny terrace. The Telemark at L'Etale is great for lunch, and Bercail (00 33 45 002 43 75) on the Crêt du Merle has excellent tartiflette, but unsurprisingly gets crowded.

Nightlife

La Clusaz is not the most boisterous ski resort, but there are bars for every mood. Maybe Le Salto for early après-ski drinks (it has Sky TV and draught Guinness), Les Caves du Paccaly and Le Grenier for live music, and later L’Ecluse nightclub, with its glass dance floor over the river, and Club 18 discotheque.
