In a beautiful setting on the shores of the Zeller See (Lake), with a lively après-ski scene, Zell is a popular haunt for skiers and boarders. But such a scenic location between this extensive stretch of water and high mountains means Zell am See enjoys the benefits of year-round tourism too.

Indeed, for those who enjoy summer skiing, the best of both worlds are available at one and the same time: exhilarating glacier skiing on the Kitzsteinhorn before lunch and watersport in the afternoon, all coming to an idyllic close each evening with lakeside walks and restaurants.

Accommodation type summary

Also try the lakeside Grand Hotel (00 43 6542 7880). The eclectic, excellent Steinerwirt (00 43 6542 725 02) is in the heart of the village and brings local musicians to play at dinner - a treat to stay at.
