| How it works |
From St Pancras International, take a Eurostar to Lille, Paris or Brussels. Then change onto a scheduled European train. Changing train requires only a change of platform, except in Paris where you need to change station. See our guide to changing trains. Some ski resorts have train stations in the village. Others have a station nearby, with convenient bus or taxi options (or pick-ups organised by tour operators). |
| When you can travel |
Almost all trains run daily, to the same schedule throughout the winter. Some resorts are convenient by daytime services; others by travelling overnight on sleeper trains; and some by both. |
| What the trains are like |
Eurostar and scheduled European trains are clean, efficient and punctual. Daytime TGVs have a café bar; some Swiss and Austrian daytime trains and the City Night Line have excellent, reasonably-priced restaurant carriages. Overnight trains have couchettes with 6, 4 or 2 beds. See what the trains are like. |
| What it costs |
Fares start from £99 return and increase nearer to the time of travel. See how to book the lowest fares. |
| When you can book |
City Night Line trains can be booked 6 months in advance, Eurostar trains can be booked 120 days in advance, and European trains 90 days in advance. Want to know the earliest date you can book to get the lowest fares? We’ll send you an email reminder for your specific journey. |
| How to book |
You can book rail tickets via snowcarbon or from a rail company. Booking via snowcarbon is simpler and easier, and it costs the same. Just click on the choose resorts page and select a destination – we’ll guide you all the way and show you all the relevant options. Some operators offer fixed-price rail-inclusive packages to France and Switzerland. |
