Bardonecchia - village

The centre of Bardonnechia is fairly compact, with many of the restaurants, bars and shops centred around Via Medail. Surrounding the centre is a network of quiet residential streets, shaded by large trees.

Campo Smith is the hub of the town’s ski area and the focus of many visitors’ stay, with hotels, restaurants, bars, ski schools and rental shops all located within walking distance of the lifts.

Accommodation types

There’s a decent selection of affordable hotels and apartments in Bardonnechia. The large Best Western (00 39 12 290 92 33) dominates the Campo Smith ski base, with rooms and apartments on the slopes as well as an excellent restaurant, sauna, Turkish bath and pool.

There are other less expensive, more atmospheric and central options, such as I Larici (00 39 12 290 24 90).

Skiers with a healthy and discerning appetite should check in at the charming Hotel Villa Myosotis (00 39 12 299 98 83). For a complete list of the accommodation visit the Torino tourist board website.

Ski/snowboard equipment hire

The majority of rental shops are located at Campo Smith. The ski school Spazio Neve (00 39 012 290 19 43) rents equipment and has knowledgeable, English-speaking staff.

Non-ski activities

There’s a public swimming pool at Campo Smith and plenty of shops as well as snow-shoeing, winter horse riding, snow-tubing, winter biking and cross-country skiing. You can also go on a snow-cat safari tour of the local slopes – contact the Tourist Office for more information.

Each of the four ski schools offers children’s programmes and there’s a crêche at Campo Smith which takes children aged 1-5 years
