Valloire - introduction
Set between the Maurienne Valley and the legendary Col du Galibier, Valloire is a traditional, year-round mountain village with some 150km of excellent skiing, shared with its near-neighbour Valmeinier.
On the mountain you’ll find something for all levels, including some nice sheltered drops among trees and a good selection of satisfyingly long blue-graded cruises, all served by a highly-capable modern lift system, including two gondolas.
The ski areas is called as Galibier-Thabor (names of two of the highest peaks) and covered by a combined lift-pass offering some very worthwhile extension opportunities to discover other nearby Maurienne ski areas and the possibility to ski Val Thorens and the Three Valleys too.
Best of all the vibe, both on the mountain and in the village itself, is welcoming and refreshingly down-to-earth, a quality which endears Valloire to many French families who return here each season to ski together and meet up with old friends.

Lowlights

- It’s bigger than you think, so it can take new arrivals a while to find their bearings and get around.
