We had an eventful trip!

Resort:  Les Deux Alpes
Journey:  Eurostar + TGV

For our holiday to Les Deux Alps, we travelled by Eurostar to Paris and then TGV to Grenoble. The best deal I could find was on the Trainline website (which was a surprise to me as I didn’t realise they allowed for international travel).

We did have an eventful trip because we missed our outbound train on the Saturday (Our alarms didn’t go off! - It’s that Apple calendar alarm that goes off every day of the week, except the weekends, a setting I will never forget again!)
We found ourselves having to jump in a cab and get to St Pancras because there was no-one available to discuss this with before 9am.  The staff at Eurostar we’re amazing.  Given it was Feb half term, there were hardly any spare seats but they managed to get us on to a 2.20 train with a connection in Grenoble.

We were very lucky. There weren’t any seats left in the connecting train but somehow the supervisor got us on.  We ended up sitting in First Class as we didn’t have allocated seats - so that was a good result!  The supervisor was also extremely kind and only charged us £30 each for ticket changes (£120) when I was expecting a hefty bill to get us there.

All in all we arrived seven hours later than planned but we’re in the hotel by midnight :)

We stayed at Hotel Ibiza, which is a fab 3-star, excellent value for money.  The resort is great for families, lots of runs to explore, blue runs down to main lifts got very busy and the queue to get it on the main gondola was a bit painful at times.  Town is lovely, and busy, even though we had dinner included at the restaurant we ventured out one evening for delicious steak and chips, lots of eating options and shops.

Journey back was a breeze.  Got the train at 10 and we’re back in London by 4.45pm.

Can’t recommend train travel enough!!
